Gone! A Poem of Why and Bye

We left Ireland with mixed feelings, as you may or may not know.

In some ways I am no longer a spring chicken- sometimes you just know when something’s not right for you, but it takes experience to believe the signs when they’re there. Here are examples of what I mean, which I have written in a shabby poetry-type form titled “Gone”:

Gone!
are the days of buying clothing that’s too small and
forcing my habits to change just to fit into that dress.
Gone!
Now, I buy what fits my body,
and sometimes,
I buy it FULL PRICE
*Snap*.
Gone!
are the days of investing my time trying
to be better at something that I’m not.
MATH.
Now, I spend my time where it counts.
Gone!
are the days of investing my time trying
to convince someone to be nice
when there is someone else who respects me
naturally
…or because they were not raised
BY WOLVES OUT FOR SURVIVAL GRRRRRRR I ONLY THINK OF ME
says the head wolf and the babiest wolf.
(they’re the same)
Gone!
are the days of waiting for it to work out
and missing other opportunities.
Gone!
are the days of ordering gin and tonics because
everyone else loves them
…and hoping one of these days I
won’t want to scrape off my tastebuds because
I’ll have acquired a taste
for the good-for-nothing-liquid-trash that is
GIN.
…TOO FAR!
Gone! Gone!
No more! Bye!

Hello adulthood.
Taking my life by the balls.
YELP says that wolf.

A cloud can only have so many
silver linings.
Sometimes they’re just grey.

A cloud can only have so many
silver linings.
Especially when it
RAINS.

It
POURS.

Today, I do what’s best for me.
the first time.

Today, I do what I want*.

….*within reason. And still with the influence of those I care about, especially my other half, because……relationships.

So, we left Ireland pretty much like this, with the boat representing all of our Irish trials and tribulations:

That is all. I have my closure.
